Beaches
There are so many
beautiful beaches just a short drive away that it would be impractical to
try to list them all, but the following are a selection of different types
within striking distance.
The Arenal beach at Javea is a long, wide stretch of sand which slopes
very gently into the sea, making it a wonderful place for children of all
ages to play and one of the safest places on the Costas to bathe and swim.
There are numerous restaurants/ice cream parlours/bars fronting onto
the esplanade behind the beach. A little further along from the
Arenal beach is a pebble beach leading towards the port area, which gives
a real contrast to the sandy beach. To the north of Javea are some
pebble beaches with spectacular backdrops and then, heading towards
Denia,
Oliva and Gandia are stretches of unspoilt and mainly uncrowded beaches.
Cumbre De Sol is the other side of the hill immediately behind the villa.
It is a pebble beach with a spectacular backdrop of cliffs dropping down
right to the edge of the beach. There is a little beach bar and a
small outside restaurant/snack bar. The scenery on the drive up the
hill and down the other side is absolutely stunning.
Moraira's main beach of L'Ampolla has a children's play area and beach
bar/restaurant. The pretty beach of El Portet is just a two minute
drive over a hill overlooking Moraira's picturesque marina.
El Portet is a small, picturesque bay with a narrow sandy beach and two beach
bars/restaurants. Like Javea beach the gradient is very shallow,
making it a very safe place for children to play and bathe. To the
south, heading towards Calpe are a number of small sandy beaches located
in picturesque bays.
Leisure
There are numerous bars
and restaurants just a short drive from the villa, a few being within
walking distance. Some offer live music or flamenco dancing on
certain nights.
Although the area has not majored on night clubs and discos, for the young
there are a couple of night clubs/discos in Moraira and Javea.

There are plenty of sporting activities within easy reach.
Javea Golf Club, an excellent nine hole course is just two minutes away.
La Sella, a Marriot owned eighteen hole course is about a twenty minute
drive whilst Oliva, a Seve Ballesteros designed championship standard course, is
about a thirty minute drive.
There are tennis courts, available for
use by non-members, at Javea Golf Club. There are further tennis
courts, bowling greens and
riding stables not far away. There are
also good water sports facilities in both Javea and Moraira. The
area boasts many spectacular walks, whether you want a fairly short amble
or whether you are a serious hiker.
For families with
children, Aqualandia and
Terra Mitica both on the outskirts of
Benidorm and about twenty to thirty minute drive away, provide great fun
days out. Aqualandia is an excellent water theme park and
Terra Mitica is a theme park with a real difference.
At night
Benidorm Palace puts on an international
cabaret, with or without dinner, of the highest calibre.
Each week, on different days, all of the local towns hold an outside
market selling a wide variety of fresh foods,
shoes, handbags and holiday memorabilia.
For those looking for some cultural interest a number of the old towns
close by offer plenty examples of traditional
Spanish architecture whilst a little
furtherafield Valencia is a great place to
visit for anyone with artistic, historical or architectural interests.
Valencia has also recently opened the largest marine wildlife exhibition
in Europe, called L'Occeonagrafic, and it's
modern architecture is stunning.
The most visited village in Spain is Guadalest,
located in a spectacular setting in the mountains above the Costa Blanca.
Part of the attraction of Guadalest is an inland lake and a very recent
addition is a ride across the lake on a solar powered boat.
